At Stolport FBO, we’re proud to introduce young women to the world of aviation. Through Exploration Flights, we provide a safe and welcoming opportunity to take to the skies, circling downtown Toronto and the CN Tower in a 6–8 minute flight. It’s a chance to experience the excitement of aviation firsthand and imagine what a future in flight could look like.

Partnering with Island Air Flight School, Toronto HeliTours, and Cirrus Aircraft, Stolport FBO is proud to give back to the community by making these flights possible — inspiring the next generation and opening doors to the world of aviation.

Eligibility

Girls aged 8–17

No prior small-aircraft flight experience

Comfortable flying without a parent or sibling onboard

Spots are limited and assigned by lottery. Selected participants will be contacted with a scheduled flight time and consent form.

Who qualifies for an Exploration Flight?

Girls ages 8–17 who have never flown in a small aircraft before, and are comfortable flying without a parent or sibling in the aircraft.

How do I sign up?

Simply complete the Discovery Flight sign-up form. Due to high demand, flights are assigned by lottery. Winners will be contacted by email with a scheduled time and consent form.

What is the cost?

There is no cost to participate. Flights and event activities are made possible by our generous sponsors and volunteers.

Where does the flight go?

Flights take a 5–6 minute scenic route around downtown Toronto, including views of the CN Tower and Lake Ontario, departing from Stolport FBO at Billy Bishop Airport.

Can a parent or guardian ride along?

No. These flights are designed to give each participant the full experience of sitting up front as the passenger. Parents are welcome to watch takeoff and landing from the ground.

What should participants bring?

Comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, and excitement! A parent or guardian must be on site to check in and sign a consent form before the flight.

Is it safe?

Yes. Flights are conducted by certified pilots in well-maintained aircraft. Safety is our top priority, and weather is closely monitored to ensure a smooth experience.

What if it rains?

If weather conditions are unsafe, flights may be postponed or canceled. Ground activities and exhibits will continue as planned regardless of weather.

If I don't win the lottery, are walk-in flights available?

There will be a limited number of walk in slots at Stolport FBO on the day of the event. Availability is not guaranteed.

Girls Take Flight Returns to Toronto — October 4, 2025

An award-winning, STEM-powered event to inspire the next generation in aviation and aerospace.

On Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport will host Girls Take Flight. This free event features exhibitors, aircraft displays, flight simulators, engineering challenges, and a speaker series with leaders from aviation and aerospace.

While open to all young people, Girls Take Flight is especially focused on inspiring young women to pursue careers as pilots, engineers, mechanics, and scientists — groups still underrepresented in the industry.

Exploration Flights are part of the 2025 Girls Take Flight Toronto event, giving girls ages 8–17 the chance to experience aviation first-hand as part of a full day of STEM-powered inspiration. These short introductory flights are run by event partner Stolport FBO and require advance registration.
